Sir, A pleasant day!
Foremost, thank you very much for coming up with this website-a very brilliant one.
My suggestion is this: apart from the gift-giving on Christmas, may we come up with a "long-term" project? One of the thing that Lepanto gave me, and to most of us I believe, is the gift of Education. However, with the present crisis, most college students opted to stop their schooling. My proposal now is to look for sponsors to support one deserving student whose parent still works in Lepanto. This is just to augment what his parent can provide considering the irregularity of salary now in our beloved Lepanto.
Eventually, if God permits and if resources will be A-ok, we might sponsor a scholar or scholars. This may be a good contribution of BLM members to our fellow Batang Lepanto...to our society.
Matago-tago tako am in!
Respectfully, jam

Hello Jam,
Thank you for your suggestion. Actually, that is part of our vision and mission for Batang Lepanto Mines.
Once we have finally registered BLM with the Securities and Exchange Commission, we will cover a lot of projects, among them are education, livelihood and many more.
Just for your info, as of this very hour, the Christmas Committee is having their meeting in Lepanto Mines concerning the forthcoming Christmas gift-giving program.
Thank you again and please keep us posted with whatever suggestions you may have and we will look into it. Best regards.

To Jam,
You had a very nice suggestion there concerning Scholarship for Lepanto students and I am glad that you sincerely thought of the situation of these graduates who are supposed to be pursuing college. I really hope that more would sympathize with the plight of the children of Lepanto now and give whatever they could share to these children.
You were specific about the "would be" college students but unfortunately, even some high school students have difficulty pushing through their secondary education. Lots of them attend school na walang allowance - pang recess man lang or pangtustos sa projects nila. And we have our teachers who could really attest to this situation. "Maraming estudyante na parating late magsubmit ng project kasi financially e nagkukulang talaga sila."
And it is really a great chance for the former BATANG LEPANTO to extend whatever they could.
Actually, there are already some former Lepanto residents/graduates of Lepanto who are DOING IT NOW. Though not as full scholarship, but they are giving financial assistance to some high school students.
One is in the person of Dr. Josefina Laza. She has been giving financial assistance to George Ikid (3rd year high school to 4th year school) and to Mr. Dayaodao (forgot his first name) from 1st year high school up to the present. Her exact words were "I am not rich but I really want to help." Somebody from Batch 91 is also giving financial assistance to one high school student pero Im not sure of their identity. But who is keeping a record? Marami pa sigurong unsung heroes jan and sana mahawa tayong lahat sa generosity nila.
Anyway, my point is it is really "Doable". We can approach the school about how we could help or: we can do it through this website.
The Christmas Committee has already started with its planning regarding the Gift Giving on December. Target Recipients will be Elementary and High School Students where in gifts are expected to be school uniforms. What we, BATANG LEPANTO, can do is donate to the cause so that we could provide more to these children.
"P300 is equivalent to one child. "
How many child do we want to help?

Hello, everyone... Julius and I enjoy reading your posts here. I kept wanting to drop a note regarding this very good cause but it's only now that I was finally able to sit down and actually do it... sorry... Anyway, thank you very much for those who came out with this idea... the global crisis is indeed being felt worldwide... but reading, and hearing what is happening to lepanto these days, sometimes, some of us can't help but see how lucky some of us are as compared to the crisis situation in lepanto. Therefore, please count us both in... $100.00 from both of us. It's a small amount but like the others, it's coming from our hearts... BLM-00059 BLM-00065 Where do we send the money? When is the deadline? Please Advice... thanks!!! To Julius N. Paragas (BLM-00059) and May Joy N. Umaming-Paragas (BLM-00065), thank you very much for your US$100 donation. We will soon inform you where to deposit your donation because we are now in the process of opening BLM's bank account at BPI-Baguio. Once again, we really appreciate your concern to our cause. God bless you!

Hello BLMates,
Today, 12th of December witnessed the success of the 1st project of BLM thru the gift-giving activity in Lepanto National High School grounds.
With the grace of God and all the support of our dear donors, BLM officials, christmas 2009 committee, in cooperation of the teachers from LES, LNHS and Marivic Elem. school, we successfully concluded the activity today.
As of this writing, the rest of the BLM officials are still having their dinner before driving back to Baguio. Tired, sweaty and sleepless but everyone was all fired up for the parlor games and gift-giving. More than 600 students from the 3 schools plus teachers have participated in the parlor games and mini-program.
As I was unable to attend the activity due to last minute hiccups from Manila, I am sending this post as starters for the photos and videos soon to be shared from the rest of the team.
In behalf of the BLM OFFICIALS '09, a big THANQ to all of you who have supported to make this a huge success.
To Slazh who founded the organization and for continuously and selflessy guiding us - THANK YOU may not be enough. May God bless you for all your efforts to bring BLM into existence and may all your selfless initiatives bring you back blessings in multifold.
To Shaun, Lenny, Jong, Heidi, Brenda, Manang Sendang, Ma'am Merlyn, Marrian,Clyde, manang Connie, manang jackie, Vida and Chief Mario, Rodolfo and to those who provided logistic support (may not know all your names), hats off to all of you.
All the sleepless nights, running around, numerous phone calls, endless chat messages and discussions are now all worth the smiles of our dear Lepanto students.
To the rest of mga Batang Lepanto, may you continue to support the organization for the next projects and also be proactive in making valuable inputs to uplift our dear community.
TO GOD BE THE GLORY!!!
Jingle
