Naimbag nga bigat kakadwa nga ubbing iti Lepanto. I've been meaning to email re this activity of the group, but we've been very busy. This activity is very timely because with the current situation of the company, i'm not sure if we can have a christmas gift-giving this year. i would just like to share with you how it is done here in Lepanto so you have some ideas how we can run it. Gifts are given to company dependents ages 0-7. Ticktes are issued as a control system. The tickets are placed in the payslips of their fathers a week before the activity. Basing on data from HR Office, the number of children in these age categories are almost 2,000. Remember guys that its company dependents only. So if we are to add others, that may mean around 2,500 children. The bags contain the famous Lepanto T-Shirt, a toy, and some goodies. If we will adopt the suggested 100K for this activity, it will mean that each bag is worth P40.00 only. Aside from the actual gift-giving, games and other activities are also prepared. We invite clowns to entertain the kids. In 2004 and 2005 we even brought Jollibee here. The catch is, they wil only bring Jollibee if they could sell their goods. I don't think that's possible because money is so difficult here. The bulk of the work will go on the purchasing of gifts. Of course there's always Divisoria. But there are a lot of good toy stores in Dagupan. Also needed would be the truck that will haul the gifts. Re-packing can be done for 2 days max, if there would be lots of volunteers, 1 day would be enough. I suggest that since this is the first project of BLM, why don't we make it BONGGA! I mean we can always look for funds for other activities and add more members. Lets just think of it as our launching activity. I tell you this will make the people of Lepanto happy, they will really appreciate what we will do for them. Morale here is very low, everybody is affected by the financial situation of the company. This activity will definitely make them feel that a lot of people still care for them. The most critical here is the budget. The value of the gifts will depend on how much we will allocate. I agree that by October, all funds should be in. Gifts must be purchased at least by end of November because December is one of the peak seasons for toys. I would be most willing to help. I can ask some data that we might need from HR, or coordinate with the company on things needed. You may email me at joann.gatchalian@lepantomining.com or joagatchalian@yahoo.com. My mobile number is 09209029379. God bless you all. Joann Arellano-Gatchalian Batch 1995 PS. Mr./Ms. Webmaster, can you please provide me with my username and password. I can't remember it eh, bata pa naman ako. hehehehe! Tnx!

Hi Joan, Joan, I really appreciate your concern regarding the planned Christmas celebration for the children in Lepanto even during this trying times. Your outline was detailed and indeed the P100,000 is not enough to satisfy the approximately 2,500 children in Lepanto. Assuming that we can have 1,000 registered members until November and each will give P500, that would be P500,000, sufficient enough to cover the 2,500 children at P200 gift package per child. I firmly believe that we can achieve that P500,000 target until November if only each and every member will show their support and love for this cause, however, in my personal view, I prefer that we must not spend the entire P500,000 on a 1-day 5 hour occasion. Why dont we use P100,000 only for a simple christmas celebration and utilize the remaining P400,000 to shoulder the tuition fee of selected & poor-but-deserving children. This is just my suggestion. To all the BLM members, please share also your views, comments and opinions so we can come up with the final plan. Thank you! p.s. Your ID number is BLM-00108 and u can view your profile at www.batanglepanto.com/members/blm-00108.htm

Hello po ulit!
I got this idea from Lenny Onangey. Why don't we tap people of BPI to help us come up with an account for the pledges. There are a lot of batang lepanto with BPI. For one, Mrs. Merly Wanawan-Sison is the bank manager of the BPI Branch near Tiongsan Harrison. Rodolfo Mabiasen, Jr. also holds a high position in BPI.
Basta keep the pledges flowing, saka na nga talag pag-usapan ang management nya.
Personally, I can't pledge any amount as of this time. But I can give you my services.

hi Joann again,
Regarding your proposal to tap BPI, definitely they wont entertain pledges because what they need are actual cash to be deposited in the bank. I'm glad we have contacts in BPI who can assist us once we opened a joint account there.
Once we have already formed the Christmas Committee, I believe the Chairman and the Treasurer can already open a joint account in BPI so that both signatories will be required upon withdrawal to protect the funds. This account will be temporary only pending the appointment of the Officers of Batang Lepanto Mines which is a requirement in order that we can register BLM with the Securities and Exchange Commission as a non-profit, alumni and community organization. Once it is already registered with SEC, then we can already open a permanent bank account for BLM where all members can deposit their donations and financial assistance.

Hi LNHS, thanks so much for your concern and love for the children of Lepanto. At your young age, you have already shown your concern to them. I wish more students like you will come forward and share a part of their allowances to make this small children happy this coming Christmas. Thank you. SLAZH

Hi Slazh and fellow BLM!
Since you solicited for comments and suggestions I agree with Joan´s idea. Maybe opening an account at the BPI where most alumni from Lepanto are presently working with different BPI branches in Baguio and Trinidad is a good suggestion.
FRom those pledges of donations posted above, wouldn´t it be nice if it is deposited right straight to a safe bank.
Just my few scents share.

Hi Fargo, I'm pasting here my message to Joann awhile ago in reply to your query:

I hope I have answered ur query. Best regards.

Well taken Slazh. Copy loud and clear.. In that case we then have to wait for the result of the nomination before the opening of the bank account. That´s the best thing to do I guess. Thanks again. Good day!

Hi Fargo,
Let me just share my experience with batang philex mines which I also founded (www.batangphilexmines.com). During 2008, I launched the same christmas campaign and I used my wife's bank account in the philippines to pool all their donations, then after opening an account for the christmas campaign, i transferred everything to that account, and every amount was fully accounted for.
In the case of Batang Lepanto, no one knows me there, not even one, therefore, I'm sure they have some reservations to deposit their donations to my account at this point in time.
Therefore, lets just wait for the JOINT BANK ACCOUNT to be opened by the Chairman and Treasurer of the Committee, unless you have some trusted men in Lepanto where we can transfer the funds. Please let me know.

Three major fruits of Christmas is LOVE, JOY and PEACE. People show LOVE by giving, those who receive gifts experience JOY and among all the giving and receiving going on this CHRISTMAS our prayer of PEACE to all is the best we give and receive. BLM 00197----- P5,000.00
